You kept my heart for a keepsake
Instead of a lock of hair
Does it look nice on your coffee table?
Or did you sell it for a dollar at the fair…

And I
Sleepwalk through the night as you forget me…
And you
Move on with your life as you forget me…
And I
Never meant to keep you but I wish you’d stay…

You kept my lips for a keepsake
Instead of a silver ring
Do you wear them when you leave the house?
Or do you only take them out to hear them sing…

And I
Sleepwalk through the night as you forget me…
And you
Move on with your life as you forget me…
And I
Never meant to keep you but I wish you’d stay…

You kept my eyes for a keepsake
Instead of a picture framed
Are they polished like your football trophy?
Or did you leave them in the backyard in the rain…

And I
Sleepwalk through the night as you forget me…
And you
Move on with your life as you forget me…
And I
Never meant to keep you but I wish you’d stay…

I kept your heart for a keepsake
Instead of a lock of hair
It looks lovely on my coffee table
But it doesn’t stop me wishing you were there.
Um, yeah. My singing teacher's helping me with the chords for this one.

I had a really funky idea for a video clip (which obviously will never happen, but it's funky anyway). Throughout the thing, between shots of the singer singing and everything, you get bits with a body on the bed, and the camera pans up along it. So first you see this great big hole in the chest. And then you go up and it has a bloody mouth. And then you go further up and there's bloody holes where the eyes should be. And at the end, in the last verse, the singer or whoever is holding a beating heart in her hand.

It would be kinda gruesome, but good lighting would make that more tasteful.
